NOAA Strategic Goal: Crosscutting

Educational Partnership Program
NOAA Center for Atmospheric Sciences

(District of Columbia)

The NOAA Center for Atmospheric Sciences (NCAS) is led by Howard University, in collaboration with three partners: Jackson State University, the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. This Center is one of four cooperative science centers that are part of NOAA’s Educational Partnership Program with Minority Serving Institutions. NCAS research and training goals are to: contribute to improving the accuracy of weather and climate forecast models, particularly in predicting precipitation; and produce highly educated and skilled students from underrepresented communities for research and operational careers in weather and climate prediction. NOAA Strategic Goal: Climate Variability and Change

Climate Program Office
Climate and Global Change Program

DC-1 (Washington)

To carry out NOAA’s mission to provide climate forecasts and products, the Climate Program Office supports research projects across the nation conducted by investigators outside the federal government, within the federal government, and in NOAA Cooperative Institutes. This research is accomplished through the strong support of the academic and private sectors, as well as NOAA and other federal laboratories. The research contributes to improved predictions and assessments of the effects of climate variability over a range of time scales from season to season, year to year, and over the course of a decade and beyond. NOAA Strategic Goal: Ecosystems

Office of Ocean Exploration
Smithsonian Institute Ocean Hall

(Washington)

NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration (OE) supports activities that search and investigate the oceans for the purpose of discovery. OE is working with the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History to create an Ocean Hall to engage, educate and inspire the public through state-of-the-art displays. The Ocean Hall is one component of the Ocean Science Initiative intended to educate and inform the public and expand our understanding of the Earth's oceans.
